Bedroom Eyes II
Acrylic and emulsion on canvas
48" x 12.6"
2017
Private collection

This painting is Collins' second exploration of the evocative eyes that appeared first in his illustration, "Bedroom Eyes I". early experiments with the restrained palette and high contrast style that has since become a signature. Collins was inspired by the elaborately made up eyes of classic divas of the stage and screen, as well as by the heavy eyeshadow and thick lashes of vintage Playboy models. Collins captures the sultry drama of those women's iconic fashion.
The title of the work is a play on words. Collins created the pen and ink illustration as a study for a painting that would hang in a bedroom.
